His step fractures branches
As the cool air hollows his face.
Gaunt and paled,
His expression twists and rises
Like autumn’s sycamore seeds.
Furled leaves underfoot,
Crimped and curled,
Rise from the rain’s blanket
Hot breath against cool air,
Winter’s bite soon commences
