A Little to Drink

I drank my sorrow away
Only to have it come back the next day
Along with a pain in my head
And a shoulder weight of dread
I drank and all was well
Even though my mind was cloudy as hell
I now understand the appeal
That comes with drinking so you don't have to feel
I could care less of me
I'd rather just cease to be
But for now and for time
This helps me to unwind
A little drink here
A little scotch there
As if it was medicine for my mind
I drink and drink
But as I sober my heart sinks
This is not who I am
But I'll be damned
If I couldn't use all the help I can get

I like the searching your words show. I keep trying to find the way to find the happy, never seem to succeed. Like your way. Great write, and great flow. Thank you for sharing. |
