I am unworthy to bear His great name.
Many things I have done have put me to shame.
Wretched man am I who can not escape,
The guilt of my conscience, and of all my blame.
If I have hurt others or caused them to fall,
And haven't said "sorry," I now tell you all!
I'd rather die trying to stay true to God's Son,
Than live here forever if I've hurt anyone.
I am unworthy to receive praises from men.
I have not always been the man I now am.
And I am not pleased with my person, myself.
So long ago I placed myself on the shelf.
If anything righteous ever came through my life,
It had to be His voice, as my acts caused strife.
But He uses unworthy and unrighteous and poor,
To show the whole world He has a big open door.
Narrow the path is but straight is the way.
He wants you to find it, He's waiting today.
You may be unworthy like me and all earth.
But He always stands waiting to give you new birth.
