RACES

Isn't it strange that we all are tagged
As people of a certain race?
This won't stand the test of time.
Won't you please hear then my case?

There is only one race in all of the world.
It is the race that we all call man.
There certainly are many ethnic groups,
But that was never the Creators plan.

The division of all ethnic groups
Came in Baghdad a very long time ago.
Have you heard of the Tower Of Babel?
It’s been proven to have happened you know.

When anything tries to reach our God
And ascend up to His Throne,
Be it an angel or group of humans,
Their confusion will then be shown.

I have some Chinese neighbors.
And some are black and others white.
In my family are American Indians,
And Hawaiians with skin dark as night.

But we are all of the very same race.
It hasn’t been just one ethnic group,
That have battled our enemies face to face.
To bring our freedoms to you.

In needing many blood transfusions,
When my life hung on the line,
I never asked what race it came from
As someone else’s blood merged with mine.

I walk into any kindergarten class
I see many groups represented there.
They hug and play with each other.
So prejudice is learned elsewhere.

No racial slurs are heard within.
Could they come from a parents mouth?
Then you are doing the world a disservice.
So why won't you cut this out?

Let there be peace where there is none.
That is what I’m trying to say.
If we’re ever going to find it,
Let’s start on this Easter Day!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
