Dark and Dawn

A soft wind blows across the skin on a cool winter morning,
Icicles start to die and are caressed by loving sun's embrace,
Colors break the sky and it is reborn in cascading rainbows,
while the shades of night retreat and leave not a trace,
of the harsh cold that came before... always present in the night,
where precious moments were heard but never seen,
where time seems to hold still in the black beauty of darkness,
and when the sun rises again we wonder which is the more powerful scene,
rays of sunlight cascade like a soft lovers kiss upon the wind,
surrounded in complete darkness there is a peace like none other in the world,
nothing but the sound of a heartbeat within your chest in silent contemplation,
if ever a man questions his fears, he need only let the dark unfurl,
as the light of the morning casts away the shadows... his strength will be serenity,
and even in slumber, as we toil through our very dreams, awaking in a pool of fear,
even as we try to surrender to the darkness that every man can feel lurking around the corner,
the sun tries to shed its rays upon our skin and wake us... even as it sees our tears,
and as the first tear hits the ground... whether from fear, doubt or pain...
humanity can always count on the light that comes from the dawn.
