Honesty's the best policy.
I've heard it time and time again
But every time, I'll cross that line,
And give the truth a little bend.
Round my grade point up a bit
Claim to work more than I do
Insist I saw it happen
When we both know that's not true.
Just to be clear, I never lied
About how I feel for you
You were a lie I told myself
One that I so dearly hoped was true.
But now yours untruly
Must turn and face the facts
And let the person stand alone,
Dropping all the acts
My GPA is terrible,
I work around thirty hours a week
And I wasn't anywhere around him
When he broke that losing streak.
But to think that you would marry me
Was, in and of itself
The worst lie that I ever told
And I believed it myself.
