Progress?

Contributed by northernlights on Saturday, 24th March 2012 @ 05:42:08 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

I have your words but no expression,
My eyes reflect the new oppression!
Treadmills turning to make you fitter.
Breathing your last updating twitter!

Your face your smile familiar voice,
No longer feature ,in personal choice.
Facebook, my bible, my hourly need.
Drug of choice from which I feed.

Shadows the devil’s haunting dream,
Replaced by blinds in form of screen.
Eyes in ever widening sickness glare!
At innocence climbing naivety stair.

Superficiality creeps as thorny briar,
Squeezing the heart in coils of wire.
Choking humanity, denying the soul,
Of all that it needs to keep us whole.

Technology in history has its place,
But so does meeting face to face!
A changing world a central feature,
A price too high for a social creature?

Bravo brother!
You told them well. It is disgusting what happens due to mind and soul killing technology.
Excellent composition.
Blessings
Elizabeth

Great poem and great message. Hits the nail on the head so very timely.
Technology, meant to help humans to come closer together, kills the mind now, in senseless and idle banter and distraction.
You are to be highly commanded for courageously exposing the racket.
Thanks a lot Northern Light.
Shine bright!

Elizabeth

I'm on Facebook and even though I like the way it has help me find long lost friends, family, and enjoy some of the updates they put on there, I find it amazing how many people seem to let it dominate their life and take a forefront to that life. I think it's nice to be able to keep it touch, after all, that is exactly what I am doing now...I am communicating with you via the internet as you read this. But it does not rule me nor does it make my decisions for me. Just a good communication tool. *sigh* But there are those that seem to stay in that world and never get out and even if they are out and about, they keep their noses in their ipads, notebooks, phones, and tablets. They still seem to exist in that world and are unaware of their real surroundings.

As usual, another awesome write from an awesome person and poet. You've hit on a hot topic.

Tim

Hi Anna,

Never use facebook myself. If I can't say what
I want/need to say by email or by phone then
it can wait until 'face-to-face.' The power of
modern technology - frightening ..... if we allow
it to be. Well scribed, Anna. Good to see you
posting again.
