TRUE FRIEND

what is a true friend?
of course it's someone who will be there until the end
but what about the inbetween?
and what about what isn't seen?
it's all about what is felt
not being distracted by the cards we're dealt
a true friend will stand the test of time
there is no mountain of trouble that they wouldn't climb
a true friend will see you through heartache, sadness, and life in general
a true friend is usually found in only one, most never several
this person will pick you up, help you across the finish line
a true friend will tuck you in and kiss your cheek at bedtime
they are your safety net, your confidant, your shot in the arm
they will stand in front of a bullet, a train, or anything that can harm
a true friend is rarely found, if ever found at all
i believe i have one in you, for you catch me when i fall
listen to me when i say this my friend
my loyalty to you will never bend
take what i say and place it into your heart
i love you in so many ways, and that's just the start...
