EACH BREATH IS YOU

May I ever again hold you,
And steal a gentle kiss?
Will I ever again begin to feel,
A “serenade of love” you miss?
Will you ever put your trust in me,
The way you used to do?
And look into my longing eyes,
And say you love me too?
Will you ever let me take your hand,
Or place mine on your thigh?
Or will you be content to know,
How I often for you cry?
Can we return to the day before,
I broke your precious heart?
Can I return to worship you
As I have from the very start?
And if I never can return
Because I hurt you way too deep.
Then may my breathing stop today
And send eternal sleep.

oh wow...this was an incredible write...the yearning for one love, and the admittance that you were wrong and that you know you hurt them but just hoping for one more chance to prove you would not hurt them again...you penned these thoughts so amazingly well. |
