THE SPONSOR

Would you sponsor me to sit on my butt
And eat twinkies while drinking soda pop?
To give birth to a dozen little children too,
Who won’t know their daddy, not sure if I do?

Will you give me a ride to get food stamps,
At the welfare office, where I learned from gramps,
That nothing in life is worth a sweat,
For what ever is needed from others get?

Would you sponsor me for some government help,
And pay for my housing with someone else’s wealth?
I don’t need insurance for my health care is free.
If I have more babies, the more cash you send me.

Please don’t think this a slap in the face,
I am not singling out any sex or race.
But if one finds no motive to work,
It’s the powers that be who are the big jerks.

The system is set up so you cannot escape.
It sucks you in with the free coins on your plate.
And asks half of the people to support all the rest.
So a few can watch Oprah, and it’s that I detest.

If you want to continue this type of sponsor
You’ll continue to have this tax draining monster.
Just reelect all the buffoons and fools,
Who have already proven they haven’t a clue.

Not intended to offend anyone who legitimately needs
the help of others but to bring to light the terrible amount
of fraud and abuse we have allowed in recent years.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
