Wildflower of the field
Blowing in the memories of my yesterdays
When everything was young and beautiful
Yet the rains came down
And the sun no longer sets for you
You are the time slipping through my fingers
In a life where I’ve watched people come and go
Where are your memories now?
Where are the quiet fields that I had used to roam?
Underneath a country sky I used to call my home
Wildflower, what’s left of you today?
Nothing but the memories of what you used to be
No longer does your sweet voice call my name
I still wonder who you’d be
You grew up young and reckless
But so beautiful beneath that summer sky
Wildflower, please wait for me when I come passing by
