Time Traveler’s Adventures #11

Moses

I looked at Mars with binoculars
As it was closest to the moon.
The sky was bright from moon beams
But Mars bore a bright red hue.

I took my time at looking up
Until my neck was sore at last.
Then I started to get dizzy
And fell to the ground quite fast.

I had been sitting in my time machine
As I had garaged it for some time.
I brought it out to polish it
To display it to a friend of mine.

Imagine how startled I became
When I saw a parted sea.
And a man standing in the middle
Who was awfully close to me.

I heard others shout “hey Moses
Can we help you lift your arms?”
And he shouted right back to them
“Save yourself and keep from harm.”

I heard some chariots thunder.
Ten thousand soldiers made a roar.
The sounds of spears clicking shields
Mingling loudly at the water’s shores.

I thought “hey get me out of here.”
For I knew what would happen next.
I loved to hear the story.
But to live it would be a test.

The waters tumbled right toward me
When the soldiers were down inside.
But I re-buckled my seatbelt
Hoping for a saving ride.

There was sweat still on my forehead.
And I was looking once more at Mars.
Nary a drop of Red Sea water
Dampened me beneath the stars.

My friend arrived to see my machine
But I said “let's go inside.”
“Have I got a story to tell you.
Too bad you missed this ride.”

This is so cool. I love seeing poetry like this. It makes those stories so fun and unique.
