Silence Will Come

STOP, THINK, NO I CAN‘T…
The atrocious noises of the world
demand my attention…
They hearken, day in and day out…
Calling my name as a child calls to
their mother…
WHY? Because they need me to hear
what they say in order to exist…
I thwart all I can, but there will forever
be sounds that lure me in…
Sounds I can’t help but succumb to…
Noises that are better off left for others
to decipher…
Silence will come, when I take my final breath…
