all there is, a pair of socks
worn from time to time
and just one mental image
yet in mind, it wavers often
one image. at the station
is but the mystery of her eyes
commuters faded, backs turned
in disappearance, love yearns
held by a silence of thought
her eyes swim softly glazed
of bulbous, bleached brown
fading under furrowed frown
carving further forehead ruts
the image mutates
only forgetting does it cease
yet longing still breathes
somewhere an answer remains
somewhere, beneath that glaze
