Shakespeare's Bones

let them rest, let them rest in their earthly place
or it just may be a curse that you shall face
do not interrupt their eternal slumber
do not disrupt as much as one of their number
leave the bones of Shakespeare as they are
for they are forgotten and hidden thus far
permit to them peace and just let them lie
for no one needs molesting after they die
'til eons end he shall sleep under a lonely moon
not to be awakened, not interfered with so soon
William is still writing plays for the perfect role
he is haunting my heart, and haunting my soul
he is showing me the site of his buried bones
and his expression is telling me to leave it alone
he stands there pointing toward his final resting spot
while i lay dreaming, while i lay caught
this is where he joined the spectral fraternity
where William shall remain for all of eternity
it is where shadows grow thin, and shadows grow long
a scene acted out to a slow funeral song
do not be sad, forget all of your sorrows
just because the playwright lost his dear tomorrows
please do not venture to inspect too near
please do not bother with the bones of William Shakespeare...

How creative and commemorative! I agree that such a playwright's life and death need not to be picked apart anymore. Rather, his literary works are to be our guide. Take care and God bless,

I like this, as a fan of Shakespeare, indeed let be.
Critics who should know better have been
picking Shakespeare apart for centuries.
His plays stand and laugh at their efforts.
His sonnets play past their calumnies.
HIs art rises above them all.
Write more like this.

| wow. I love this poem. and i even got a hint of you almost feeling like his friend after reading about him because you keep referring to him as William throughout the piece. i don't know if anyone else got that or not.but i'm weird and see those little things. lol. this was a very creative write. |
