Her memory is not what it used to be
She asks the same questions over and over
She forgets the name of both you and me
She can't remember the past, oh the bother
To some, it's so aggravating, so disturbing
You feel anger to repeat the same answers
You forget that she used to love to sing
She was a great cook, quite the dancer
Her life is rich with much history to explore
But sometimes, it's easier to close that door
To pull the stories out, takes such tender care
Oh, what we'll gain, such hope she'll share
The memories are still fresh in her heart
It just takes a little patience, love to start
As with the innocence of children, so is she
Her soul can see the truth that is to be
This terrible disease may think it has won
Its tightening grip can be lessened, maybe undone
Stop, open the ears within your heart and mind
All her beauty, joy, love will soon begin to unwind
Her mind may be a little slow on the uptake
You'll have to repeat things more than twice
It's worth it; oh, the wonder that is at stake
I'm willing to spend the time at triple the price

I lost my Grandfather to this dreaded
Disease.. I helped care for him full time
At the age of 17 until he passed when I was 19.
God be with you.. Such a beautiful story. =) |
