The river Wye

The sun rises high
above the Wye.
The fading moon
says its short goodbye.
The water ripples
fast but calm.
It has a dangerous
kind of charm.
The weeping willow
starts to sway.
In the first breeze
of the day.
The waters cool
but soon will warm.
Between the rocks
amongst the spawn.
The river flows
down through the valley.
Bubbling and gurgling
at least it leaves happy.

Hi:) I live near the river Derwent and am going to visit it soon to read your poem there. I really enjoyed the imagery, and the sensation, of being swept along with the current. Thank you. |
