SHEPHERD BOY

A little boy was tending sheep
On a hill out in the east.
He watched the same stars that I do
As our eyes beheld this feast.
The light that left the nearest star
Left it’s home before our birth.
It travelled many countless miles
Before it bounced it’s warmth on Earth.
The clouds were fluffy white and high
Much like his grazing flock,
Who then would settle down and sleep
While the boy sat on smooth rock.
In awe and wonder he beheld
A shooting star flash by.
He hardly could contain his voice
Singing soft gentle lullabies.
I know the circle leading east from west
Will never end you see.
Just like the sky and stars above
That hover over me!
The wind I hear and feel this night
Might contain songs from this shepherd boy.
So I also harmonize with him,
Singing praises to our Lord on High!
