Daddy Why?

Contributed by ShadowsCloud on Monday, 5th May 2003 @ 12:35:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Daddy, why don't you love me?
Daddy, why don't you seem to care?
Daddy, why aren't you proud of me?
Daddy, why must you cause despair?
Daddy, why wasn't I good enough for you?
Daddy, why can't you accept who I am?
Daddy, why wasn't I wanted by you?
Daddy, why do you seem like you're just a sham?
Daddy, why do I still need you?
Daddy, why can't I just let go?
Daddy, why do I still want you?
Daddy, why was our relationship so hallow?
Daddy, why has it been almost fourteen years?
Daddy, why am I still that little girl inside?
Daddy, why do I still cry so many tears?
Daddy, why do you have to hide?
Daddy, why did you break my heart?
Daddy, why are you so hard to find?
Daddy, why did we ever have to part?
Daddy, why do you seem so blind?
Daddy, why haven't you ever come to see me?
Daddy, why can't you see that I need you
Daddy, why is this what our relationship has come to be?
Daddy, I still love you.

I lost my Father, because of a choice that he made. He has chosen not to see or contact me in the last 14 years. And sometimes I still wonder why he has made that choice. But I still love him and I know that I always will.
Thanks for the comment.

This was a very touching thing to read for me, I bet it was hard for you to write, but I may be wrong, I hope things get better for you...

Yes it was extremely hard for me to write this. But I have found that writing about things that are very hard for me to write about can be quite healing.

Thank you for you comment. It will be 14 years since I have seen or spoken to him this coming Christmas. I will think about you advise. It is worth a shot a the very least.

Hi Candice,
This is truly a saddening plea indeed. So many strong personal feelings you've put into this piece, and I can relate to it mostly.

Excellent writing again

With love
Dean:-)

Dean,
I am glad that you like this one. It was very hard for me to write this poem. I have really tried to get over these feelings that I have for my father, but it never works. So I use my poetry to work out my feels.

Great write. I wish most dads in the world would read this poem, and ask themselves if their feels this very way. Maybe then we wouldn't see as many children rasied in neglicted (or raised only by the mother) homes. Great poem!
