Seven months since Amelia called for help,
And seven months since her baby died.
I was told how they found her body,
Out of town in a ditch at roadside.
I bowed my head to grieve a bit,
But then I received a call.
A man in my zone had a baseball bat
Sticking up but attached to his skull.
I arrived at the scene and saw firemen
Standing around in a circle right then.
They could not control this ranting man,
Amelia’s husband when he saw me, ran.
I had to tackle him for his own good,
As an ambulance waited nearby,
But in order to get to the trauma center,
Albert I’ll call him had to fly.
The helicopter was half way there,
When paramedics uttered “flatlined!”
I cannot say I was sorry,
That’s how justice works out some times.
