The Lights Are Low
The lights are low and the meal almost over
Candles flicker – our only illumination
Silence between us is tangible but loving
A perfect time between two so in love
Your eyes so full of life do win and capture
My willing heart and soul without exception
I take your hand – your palm I’m stroking
You are my angel of heaven – my turtle dove
I spy a single tear course down your cheek
And reaching up I wipe it away and smile
You return it and stretch out your arm
To do the same for me – I’d noticed not
The tears of love and joy that run so hot
Down my own face that very while
I vow my love to keep you far from harm
And this love will never - - ever be forgot
