The Once and Future Antarctic Blues
As melting shelves of ice
Dim the burning city lights,
In the flood covered streets
the warm ruin rolls
gathered seaweed from the drift
In the empty doorways
the crabs scatter wildly with the tide,
as the sea birds wheel and cry
above the deepening sea
that grows wider as it grows
(2009)
