The sun creeping over the horizon
Spies the land with its vengeful eye
It rises up with its murderous plot
To boil the waters and burn the land dry
As the morning grows brighter the darkness abates
The sun picks its targets for the day
The flora and fauna, see its white hotness
And search for a cool place to lay.
High noon approaches the sun steadies its aim
Its weapon of heat cuts like a sharp knife
The earthworms and frogs without shade for too long
Slowly dry up as the sun drains their life
The grass it turns brown ‘neath the suns killing ray
The leaves on new plants, they wither and die
Can anything stop this killing machine?
This evil white globe in the sky.
Afternoon slowly passes, death slows to a halt
The lands many survivors rejoice
The flora scrounge nourishment left by the sun
The fauna perk ears as they hear a soft voice
The sun nears it too, its color goes orange
The voice recognized as its foe
Anger and fear overtake the Suns soul
As it waits for its enemy to show its faint glow
The moon rises up its light barely shown
The sun shrinks back, fearing oncoming night
The battle begins with moons light slowly growing
One horizon, dark, the other one bright
Though the Suns fearsome power at noon was so bold
Its power, in evening begins its slow ebbing
The moon's power full rises up to do battle
It slowly sets dew on now visible webbing
The suns power weak, lashes out at the moon
But it leaves not a mark on the moon's tender shell
The soft yellow Globe continues to rise
The Earth's cooling crust. No longer a living hell
The battle is over the moon glows with pride
The sun licks its wounds and recharges its Ray
The moon knows its glory won't last for long
The battle will continue come the next day
