Her Last Regret

Contributed by angelus8663 on Tuesday, 17th January 2012 @ 11:46:31 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

I often think about where I’ve gone wrong
So many, warnings, the lectures so long
"Don't drink and drive, whatever you do,
give us a call and we'll come and get you"

Without thinking of what I was going to do
I took a sip, then another, more than a few.
The party was crazy and went through the night
By now I was wasted, and losing my sight

I drove off in my car, knocking everything down
And headed left, towards the middle of town
I didn’t see the bend, ‘til it was too late,
I plunged over the side, screaming at fate.

I looked all around, hoping for salvation
Far below the rocks; my final destination
Images flashed, as I sailed through the sky
You sober up quickly, when you’re going to die.

All sorts of things shoot through my brain
The worst regret of all, I could never explain.
I never heard the last thing my parents had said,
“Don’t drink and drive or you’ll end up dead”
