Snowy Mis-en scene
There is naught as fresh as crisp as winter air
Inhale and sting the sinuses – all wake
The senses – brush out the deadwood inside
Smell the bark of trees – natural essence
How fresh a tableau that fall of snow -- fair;
A white carpet with only birds awake
Leaving their delicate claw-prints outside
In the powder or high up on the fence
Eventually children join the group
Sleds in hand – tramping up the long hills
Shooting down – screaming – cheerful happy souls
Build a snowman – big jolly face – large frame
Stones for eyes and a carrot for the nose
Finish off with a big ‘u’ for the mouth
Nature provides a thrilling mis-en-scene
But children provide the ultimate cast...

This is wonderful writing! Isn't it amazing something simple such a snow could bring out the child in all of us! I know it does for me. :) |
