ONE LAST KISS
One last kiss has to last forever.
I must leave you now, our romance to sever.
Deep despair and dark of night,
Rips out my heart, robbing me of light.
From the day I caught first glimpse of Nancy,
M heart grew and swelled in flights of fancy!
I always dreamed love would last forever,
And on the day we die, it would be together.
Today our hearts so tightly twined,
Have been loosened now from the ties that bind.
Had we never met, we’d have never parted,
But both spirits now are broken hearted!
Fare-thee-well now my dearest Nancy,
And run to new love, that charlatan Yancy.
I wish you both much love and peace.
Now with our last kiss, I begin my grief!
I was named after the Scottish poet
of the same name who wrote a poem
titled “Ae Fond Kiss.” This is my
americanized interpretation of that song,
written for his love, Nancy!
