Fault Game

Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I've found the release my poetry allows
Barely touched on the pain I'm in now
Could go on for days, weeks sharing the sorrow
My children have caused me, the mental horror

Start with my daughter, she was the first to kill
The dream of sharing hope, joy, goodwill
Watched her blossom from child to woman
Wish I could have foreseen this sadness then

She gave birth to a son, followed by a daughter
Into their lives, she began her siege of slaughter
First she walked away from her son without a glance
If I hadn't been there, he wouldn't have had a chance

She passed through our door when she felt the need
Left grief in her wake, took all she could in her greed
Weeks, months have gone by without a visit or call
Has never offered a hand, money, nothing at all

She carried on her selfish path, gave her daughter away
To her husband's parents she was tossed, words can't say
She visits her only on demand or if she needs a public face
Likes her friends to think she's the best mom, the Jones' race

When I brought to her attention the damage she had done
She placed all the blame for the wrongs on me as the one
Heard not one word of how she is hurting her kids
She yelled at me with hate, just slammed down the lid

All ties she has now severed, no contact for my grandson
Christmas, birthdays come with no card, no gift, not one
I knew she wouldn't, her son has to bear the pain again
Does the same to my granddaughter, these kids can't win

My son has mimicked her, deserted his three children
Lied to me about taking care of them, here we go again
Refuses to pay support, never visits, rarely calls
Gifts, forget it, nothing from daddy; it's driving me up the wall

He has found a new love and life which for him is grand
From his old responsibilities, he took off and ran
Tried once more to talk to him, ended up with the same result
Like his sister, everything that was bad was all my fault

Every child grows into a person with their own beliefs and goals
Parents tend to forget; this knowledge resides in our hearts and soul
Our children forget, they cause their past, create their future to be
We all should remember to recognize our own responsibility

To the children we created, to the children they created, on it goes
If you grow a flower with love, hope, the blooms you'll want to show
If you neglect, forget, walk away, the blooms will shrivel and fall
Blame who you wish, the fact is, the future is in the hands of us all

I am sorry for your pain--and I felt it in your poetry. I wish you good luck ...nice writing.
