An Apology

Contributed by newplayer96 on Thursday, 12th January 2012 @ 06:10:14 AM in AEST
Topic: ApologyPoetry

Asked a little too much from life
I was just a boy who was
naive
Whose heart was filled with ignorance
While other's was
filled with patience and tolerance
Sitting here with deep regret
and remorse
Pinned to the ground by an abstract force
Let down
the ones who loved me the most
Not exactly the perfect time to
boast
Back then, I felt that I did try
But now all I can do is
cry
Had the misconception that I did all I could
Now I feel that
all I did was stood
My insides are wailing
Neither are my outsides
restraining
If only I was all that they wanted me to be
My heart would
be filled with glee
The moment has passed
Shadows have been cast
Proving
that I can do better
Just keeps getting harder
Didn't have much to worry
about back then
When I was surrounded by lovely women and men
Life took
quite a sharp turn
Now the tears make my thoughts burn
I let them down,
bad
I'm sorry, mom, and dad.

The poem itself is good and you express yourself well. I'm sure your mum & Dad love you and are proud of you no matter what.

A good poem of remorse and regret. In a sense your words reflect the feelings of the prodigal that can never regain the loss of the time spent away from family. I know the feeling well.

Well written and full of sorrow and emotions for the way you live your life in the past, but remember that acknowledgment of your past mistakes is a great step in the right direction. Love your parent and respect them while they are still with you.
