She Bounced

Contributed by Jamsing on Monday, 9th January 2012 @ 04:54:33 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I met this girl, and she had a bounce.
Yeah, that's what I mean.
She bounced sort of,
like when she got up from a chair at a table.
Most people will get up,
and they'll move over to the kitchen sink or whatever.
But she would bounce up.
One moment the chair was occupied with her,
the next moment she was standing in the middle of the room.
I would still be looking towards the chair at the time,
whilst she was there,
in the middle of the room,
with this big grin on her face,
waiting for me to look round.
Accept, she wasn't aware of it, you know?
She didn't do that on purpose.
It was just the way she moved.
She would be waiting because she had to wait for me,
not because she was trying too hard to,
I don't know, seem special.
It takes me a bit of time just to look from one place to the next,
let alone move to and fro.
I'm like my dad.
I never ever saw my dad move that fast,
accept this one time when he ran down a hill after me.
He ran down the hill like he was animated by the Holy Ghost.
I had fallen off this high branch in a tree at the bottom of the hill,
and was writhing on the floor in pain.
But all I remember now is the vision of my dad running down the hill.
Man, it was weird.
It really freaked me out.

I really enjoyed reading this, it has a unique style that draws you to read on. Relating the speed ot the 'bouncer' to the memory of your father as he ran to you, as you fell when a child, is the business. Applause from me.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
