Midnight gloom, hollow disgrace, the day seems colder than anything I have faced,
impractical magic under the stairs, the awkward glances exchanged are mine, not theirs,
thinking hard, rhythmic beating, hammering away at my chest,
your words heat everything, but you seem cool, i am perplexed,
thinking out aloud, lying about the sounds, it indicates that i shall never learn,
concern is not on my list, flapping feathers shall avoid the turn.

flightless, frozen, motionless it remains, for a period of unknown time,
forever maybe, and a day, infinity is the thing you found divine,
hurtling through this unmapplable journey, 2 people stuck in circumstance,
point of origin unknown, fate is what awaits us, chosen only by chance,
begging to end, tired eyes start to droop, my intentions are given away,
pointless lives when tomorrow soon becomes yesterday.

The broken wings of a butterfly, the crying eyes of the night,
The subtle feel of the poison, a pain that feels so right,
The chosen words of the torture, the burning picture in my mind,
I have chosen you, and no regret will you ever find.

Sailing in these dark waters, hunted by the cruel scent of the forest, I yearn for you to take me,
Take me away, for I am surrounded by the sound of a thousand lives, they do not listen to my eternal plea,
The gentle wind lays it's fingers upon my face, tears roll down to greet the touch,
Purple haze on the horizon, reflecting autumn flowers, underfoot they will crush,
I do not look down on them, they cannot see what it is I view,
The beauty in the ugliness all around us, setting the world alight giving it a golden, rabid hue.

Species so similar, they think alike but I'm apart, I do not consider myself to be the same,
fireworks under roof, explode in colours, and bring life to feelings that are no longer tame,
It would be so easy to end it all, free myself from the cage, take flight to locate my haven,
but it's not my choice, nor shall it ever be, only time can decide when it is I’m taken,
You will find me in the darkness and pull me to a place when the sun breaks on every beaten soul,
Do not let me linger any longer in this damp and dreadful and selfish hole,

The broken wings of a butterfly, the crying eyes of the night,
The subtle feel of the poison, a pain that feels so right,
The chosen words of the torture, the burning picture in my mind,
I have chosen you, and no regret will you ever find.

You make me see, what feels real to me, what love can be, you have set me free...

The gentle wings of a butterfly, the starry eyes of the night,
The subtle feel of the vaccine, a taste that feels so right,
The chosen words of the lovers, the everlasting picture in my mind,
I have chosen you, and no regret will you ever find.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
