I Would Kiss You
I would kiss you ma’am this night
Perchance I move too hastily
But I would hope that you listen
To my humble pleas and relent
My request is both urgent – ardent
From I am afire – do glisten
In your fire which has intensity
Fit to put this creature to fright
A kiss - - a single kiss is all
I stagger nearly take a fall
You weaken me my power spent
And so I see you turn to me
Such affirmation empowers me
I feel alive and full of hope...
