Emotional Blackmail

Topic: psychoticpoems

I want to leave, but you won’t let me go,
You hold me here, my resentment grows.
I no longer feel for you, what I once did,
Its over for us, who are you trying to kid?

You tell me you need me, and can’t live without,
If I tell you I’m unhappy, all you do is shout.
When I was late that night, you waited by the door,
I came in to find you, unconscious on the floor.

When I go to work, you beg me to return,
Or you’ll set a fire, and watch the house burn.
You say if I go, you’ll hurt yourself or much worse,
I’ll feel the guilt, as you consign yourself to a hearse.

I’m trapped in a web, constructed by you,
I want to escape, but don’t know what you’d do,
You prey on my conscience, you never ever fail,
To make me a victim, of your emotional blackmail.

I'm sorry you had to go through that. I became depressed myself last year and my ex-girlfriend dumped me and I was pretty heartbroken. I told her I was getting suicidal thoughts(these thoughts were a combination of bad things happening in my life, not just being dumped) and all she could do was give me tough love. Fortunately for me she saved my life. I thought she was the only thing keeping me happy but in reality our relationship was making me pretty sad. She saved my life because I immediately got help from a counselor. The counselor in turn saved my life and I'm currently in the best state of mind I have ever been in. If she didnt break up with me I never would have gotten help and who knows what would of happened. If you can somehow break up with her and make sure she seeks treatment she;ll be thanking you in the end.

Good luck and thanks for the read!

No one should be a victim of emotional blackmail although I know in many cases it works...I have to agree with nluchett that a lot of good can come out of breaking those ties. You have to think about what's best for YOU.
Best of luck.
