.........................................................
This morning stirs, yet night remains,
Fighting back the light she gains,
As stars move softly through the clouds
And water beads from midnight rains.
Autumn leaves fall to the ground,
Orange, golden, red, and brown,
And dot the earth with breaths sweet kiss
Without making the slightest sound.
A distant peal of thunder sighs,
And plumes from waking chimneys rise,
Dancing in the wild breeze,
To shadow the October skies.
Stars flicker, fading one by one,
The eve has gone, their work is done.
As the pale moon hides from the dawning bright,
Too wise to greet the morning sun.
