It’ll Be Cold This Christmas
Arthritic old fingers struggle with the card
The only way to get electricity
That done she huddles by the fire
Grateful for the pitiful heat
Why should it be a treat
For her to light her own funeral pyre?
It is despicable – a monstrosity
That demonstrates a social system so marred
How many die of hypothermia each year?
Do the politicians in their hot tubs care?
Can we not look after our aged better?
I am cold myself but incensed at the M.P.’s
Who continually ask us for our vote
Yet fail so many each and every winter
Keep out a beady eye this year
For our aged friends who fear
That one day they may go to rest
And just lie shivering at best

Very sad but so true.
They talk about deface-ts but no one of them ever explained how they got us here. Children could run this country better than they do.
Very sad but?
Blessings,

a very powerful and sad piece. I couldn't agree with you more, the positions do nothing for our elderly, especially in the winter, a poultry cold fuel allowance, which only kicks in when it is already too late. Great write al, keep up the good work |
