I’m So Happy Here
I stood in the middle of the empty room
And - - closing my eyes - - imagined it full –
With people and furnishings then felt the pull
On my heartstrings as I waited in the gloom
It felt strange to be back in the old place
Old ghosts and memories rushed to my head
Thoughts of those living and some of the dead
Bringing either a smile or frown to my face
I felt a shiver as though someone had entered
But no - - the door was closed and I was alone
Alone with those wonderful times spent here
I turned to leave and picked up a photograph
It must have been left when we made the move
It was my mother and I choked back a tear
It had been years since I had seen her so
Happy and for all the world looking as though
She was talking to me - - telling me - - dear
Please put be me back down I’m so happy here
