You were my superman,
flawless and brave.
Your glistening perfection,
blurred by a waxy cover
innocence shielded my sight
dream world formed.
Downgraded to sidekick,
Less brave, more flaws.
Halls echoed screams
leaving walls of confusion.
Hungry flames melted
my shield, my world.
Nobody wants you.
I stopped needing you,
baby birds learn to fly,
I got shoved out
rough connection with the ground,
shattering the uncharred pieces
like they were bones.
I’m not a little kid
neither are you,
stop playing tag
I’ll never run back.
Truth is I’m glad I fell
scraped my knees.
Not a chess game,
I was just your pawn.
Find a new one?
Did you already?
Does she call you superman?
That’s more than you deserve.
