So long my friends
Our fire is growing cold
Embers covered in soot
We wait in silence, watching
Waiting for that last spark to darken
As we ponder days spent
Drowning in memories of a time long gone
We die
But in this death, the blaze ignites!
We cast aside these hard shells of ash,
And like a phoenix we rise!
For this new life is a second chance
One without ties or bonds
Nothing holding us together but a distant memory
In this I say, so long my friends
If fate be kind, let our roads cross
At least one more time

You know. a true friend sticks closer than a brother, for life! What you are referring to here
are acquaintances, And it's not really a death
of those. Having your yearbooks in hand, you
will reacquaint yourself with them in 10, 20, 30,
or even 40 year increments, like I just did!
Keep on writing. Very enjoyable!
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns |

Excellently told. It's been fifty years since my days in high school and I still remember many of my classmates. The same feeling come about college.
Oh to be young yet wiser, far wiser than we were then. |

I am 3 years removed from high school. I lost touch with many of my friends from high school until this past summer where I rekindled many many relationships. Although I feel closer to my college friends at this point, I also will never forget my high school friends and how great a group we had. thanks for the read! |

Oh look this isn't about your second head, probably because you hadn't met her yet. I like this poem because I still miss my high school friends although I'm happy to be rid of many of my other classmates. |
