New Year Calls

Contributed by northernlights on Sunday, 1st January 2012 @ 12:52:32 AM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

New Year calls with a voice of celebration that lights up
Winter’s Sky and we sigh! For mother and daughter
Reunite in a sharing of tissues, coughing, dousing the fire
Of inflammation, a shared reunion of Night nurse and cough
Sweets. Messages conveyed and parties cancelled.
And we bond in playful jibing and provoking and we escape
Into a world of espionage with Depp and Jolie, laughter our
Medicine, we fill our world with music and seek out the
Energy of youth on Utube as it owns the streets with dance.
And we plan out our resolutions over a feast with a none too
Liberal feasting of Lindor our tried and tested remedy for
The most stubborn of colds!
Resolutions in place, a list of perfection to bring in our all too
Human high aspirations with a distant echo of fallibility!
And into a box we pour our negativity, all that holds us back
Worries, perceived failings, shortcomings, weaknesses, and
We watch them burn in a ceremony of letting go, unburdening
Releasing all that holds us back, and amongst the sneezing
And the coughing and the smiling and the cinders we said
Goodbye to the old and made peace for the New.

Very well put. An imagery that I wished could be in my future, but alas, never. I enjoyed the flow and the song of your words. Very great job. Thank you for sharing.
