My little girl’s heart was breaking,
Watching the movie E T at age three.
Tear drops down her cheeks flooding,
Had moistened the theatre seat.
Thirty years have flown right by,
Her little boy sits by me now.
The spitting image of my own baby,
Has turned my whole world upside down.
My grandson’s heart now was breaking,
As tears also streamed down his cheeks.
“E T will return,“ I blurted out.
“And tomorrow we both will go seek!”
“Blast Off, keep gravity boots on your feet”
Buzz Lightyear gave E T a ride.
Both traveling back to Elliott’s world,
Hoping Gertie will be at his side!
A blast of wind, near the riverbank.
Touching down with nary a clank!
They now were short on many supplies,
And had little fuel left in their tank.
“What shall we eat” Buzz inquired?
“Reese’s Pieces,” responded E T.
“It sustained me when I last was here!”
“ With a strange drink that they call beer!”
“Elliott, Elliott, where art thou?”
From the treetops where both had now climbed.
“Elliott, Elliott, come and find us my friend!”
The two of them in tandem chimed!
Elliott nightly had driven his bicycle,
Into the field where he’d lay on his back,
Looking straight up into the heaven’s
Hoping E T would someday come back!
“E T” Elliott yelled, it always echoed,
Tonight the echo returned HIS name!
E T had re-found his Earth family.
And life now would be joyous again!
