Note To Self
You anchor me in clarity
You have my heart and soul
You protect my feelings like
A harbour shields the port
From the ravages of nature
You keep me safe and warm
You allow my mind to break free
From the constraints of reality
And like an eagle soars up high
In the rarefied air of the desert
So too my mind ever grateful
Takes off to search the grandiose
Or perhaps turns inward upon
Itself - - safe in its grounding
To explore the delicate places
Of thought and feeling and being
And what of the dreamer? What do I give to you?
I know not but am grateful for the opportunity to Be
How sad that I do not address another but talk to myself
Am I to be pitied or envied? I know not but I am me - - alone

Oh my goodness! You're talking to
yourself again? Well, I can fit you in
next Friday at 11 a.m. for $300.00
per hour! No charge for the couch!
Whoa, did I say that? On no! I'm
speaking to myself now! LOL!
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns (Rob) |

The first verses echo all the warmth strength passion connection and creativity of the writer and then the last verse announces the all too familiar pattern of destructive analysis, A two edged sword I am not sure that one exists without the other but I do know that if that is who you are what can you do but go with it, |

Self reflective poetry is among my favorite topics because this is when we as a reader can really understand the poet more completely. Self reflection is among the main reasons most turn to the pen for therapy or for clarity. It is the heart of each poet and in your case here it beats with a admirable rhythm and an amazing talent.
Great job!
