When I'm gone

When I'm gone
Who will miss me? Anyone?
Sure they'll cry
The day I die
And maybe when I'm buried
But grief is in a hurry
And soon the tears are dry
And when my spirit rests in peace
My flesh will outlast memories
Long before my bodies rotten
The memories will be forgotten
And people passing my tomb will say:
"This lad died young, but anyway,
What will we have for dinner?"

Tis true my friend. Every word. For
what is life? Life is a vapor, that
appears for a moment, and then
vanishes away. (The Bible)

I think your idea here is familiar to many of us. Partly it is a quesiton of self worth and partly a declaration of humility - acknowledging that ultimately we are likely not to be remembered as anything beyond a part of the expansive universe. Much like a grain of sand, etc.
A very deep and profound concept that I would like to see you explore in greater depth. This is a good job but I am certain if you revisit this muse again you can bring out so much more.
I was particualrly fond of the lines,
"But grief is in a hurry
And soon the tears are dry"
Great Job!

Dear essential,
Your poem tells only the truth
The World is always busy
They forget us very soon
We must accept reality
I appreciate your ideas
You are highlighting facts
So your poem carries sense.
With best wishes, Thanking you, Yours truly,

So sad but true....memories do fade, living and even dead ones. Nice realistic poem.
