A Death Apart

Tonight it seems, a death apart
of you, of me, of all that seems
ever seemed, or never shall seem.
And this is what holds the fabric together, a death apart
apart of you, of me, of all that dreams
ever dreams, or never shall dream.
For this is the myth that tears away, a death apart
a note in a dead hand
a kiss upon frail flesh
a taste of cold tears
and a touch as fragile
as weak, as undefined
as the imagination that was sold cheap
to the river that lies
among the flowing truths
which are only, a death apart.

I'm not a great fan of abstract poetry but occasionally I am mesmerised by it and this has drawn me in.Playing with the fabric of life, of definition, whilst highlighting fragility vulnerability and coming in and out of reality creating a surreal world that draws you in.Truly poetic and intriguing definitely leaves me wanting more! |

Yes, I agree with northernlights! This was poetically 'n' magnificently mesmerizin', Daniel. Beautiful in the abstract hittin' the bullseye of contradiction. Kudos.

What is Life but a vapor, that appears
for a moment and then vanishes away.
We are the living dying. Each second
ticking off the clock brings us one second
closer to this ultimate truth! What have we
done about that future? Instead of spending
our energies on so many of life's pleasures
we totally forget to prepare for the eternal
life to come! You've shown that well here!
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns (Rob) |
