Heritage
The old album shifts
In faded brown like mist
The face, soft with age,
Of the lady Sarah
I had known the wisdom
Of her eyes
I had seen the loveliness
Of their childlike wonder
But only now
Understand the sadness

I love the warmth of heart flowing through this nugget of wisdom as you open an album to us the readers and introduce in the most loving way your Grandma.A beautiful observation.... soft with age, leading to the summary, an expression of the wisdom and awakening found in needing to have personal experience in order to truly understand. |
