Disappointed Love

Contributed by essential on Tuesday, 27th December 2011 @ 05:41:05 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

The night is cold and dark
And no clouds cover the sky
As I set out for a walk
Just me, myself and I

But my mind is spinning off
To somehow look for company
in thoughts, it finds a girl I loved
Or thought so till she disappointed me

On a bridge crossing the river
Stands an old man with a light
As I stop he gives a shiver
And his warm words befog the night

"Not every plant's a bloom
And not every bloom smells
And wearing a costume
Does not make you someone else"

And he disappears
But his words are left behind
Loudly they ring in my ears
And lie puzzled in my mind

And as I look up into the dark
I understand what he was sayin
That, what I mistook for a star
Is just a common aeroplane

"Very good lines, I like it.. There's an old Doc Watson
song that I heard once that specks to the subject -
'there's more pretty girls than one'

That was pretty awesome. Did you come up with the old mans quote yourself?

Yess, this is wonderful style. It tells a story, and rhymes without too much of a strain. Good work!
