I once was a man

I once was a man
I once was a man
With a strong and honest heart
Now I’ve become a monster
With demons tearing me apart
I once held our child in my arms
You would look at me and smile
Now I can barely hold her
My life tainted
Dirty and vile
I once was a father
A husband
A priest
Now I’m a shell
Of everything
I’d ever thought
I would be.
I once was a husband
To an endearingly beautiful wife
Now I’m barely living
Dark nights
An isolated life
I once was a man
Strong and steadfast
Unshaken inspired
Now I’m a monster
Broken and bleeding
Disgustingly undesired
You once knew me
Exactly for what I was born te be
Now you see me in shadows
And you are scared
Scared of me
I once was whole
With a part of you living within me
Now I’m nothing
You’ve torn loose
And I’m half of what I would ever be.
