The Sand Bleeds

war

Our soldiers fight this war in distant lands,
In mountain ranges and desert sands.
They follow their orders and complete their mission,
Sent there by men, filled with greed and ambition.
The men, who send these brave souls, are privileged and snooty,
The men and women, who fight it, are honour bound and filled with duty.
The dictator is toppled, the Taliban driven out,
Weapons of mass destruction, is not what it’s about.
I don’t support the war, or its oil rich goals,
But I support our troops fighting in their holes.
Bring our troops home, give peace a try,
No more of our soldiers should have to die.
A shot in the night, a hero passes,
It’s time to listen to the countries masses.
On behalf of the fallen, a nation pleads,
Another shot in the dark, the sand bleeds.

A great call for sanity and reason. It's a far cry isn't it, from Lincoln's."last full measure of devotion" to this mockery of a war that causing so much misery death and dread on both sides.
