The Children of the Apocalypse

The past is but memory
The future a darkening veil
There is only the now
That we try to grasp with words
That like water slip away
Between the fingers of verse

Let them go
They will escape into time
To be loved, to be hated, to live or die
And may like a wisp of flame, start a blaze
That will destroy the world
To live on in fire eyes
of the children of the apocalypse
