Lifepoems

Am I allowed to be proud and let my heart sing
With the praises that well up from within?
Am I allowed the indulgence of sadness when
I’ve coped all year and I’m tired!
Am I allowed the time to reflect on life?
And have peace to soothe my brow.
Or am I to continue to question how I should be?
In the eyes of scrutiny!
Or hear the sound of those who tut!
Why do I hear them?
And then in the quietness recognition knocks quietly
And though my heart is too weary,
My eyes awaken to that which brings me
Solace, and I am calm.

I've read 'n' heard poets describe "within" many times, many ways. Perhaps this might make the top of the list. Wonderful metaphor.

Hi Anna,
You have my Permission to continue writing
poetry to that eminent standard that has
become your signature - but then, you would
still touch the stars .... with or without my
permission.
