You did what you did, and I can’t change that fact,
The temptation was there and you couldn’t help but act.
You took what we had, put it all on the line,
Hoped that if caught, all would be fine.
Well in a way, I suppose you were right,
We’re still together, despite the resulting fight.
But I’m still here because I love you, and can’t let go,
Before you get ahead of yourself, I want you to know.
I may have pushed what happened to the side, but it’s still there,
The hour that passes, that I don’t think about it, is rare.
It’s always beneath the surface, floating at the back of my mind,
I always keep my eye on you, in case again, you stab me from behind.
All I’m saying is don’t think it’s over, that you’ve got away,
It may still break us, let’s just take it day by day.
If you could cheat on me, then something with us is rotten,
For now we’re together, but remember, it’s forgiven not forgotten

Forgive 'n' let "forgiven not forgotten" pay the tab this time ... 'n' carry their in conscience. Takes the load off yer shoulders 'n' puts it where it belongs. Good stuff.
