Two sides who were once one
Now more different than the moon is from the sun
Their discrepancies have made their mark
One side loved light, the other loved dark
Their many battles have been fierce
Countless have suffered from the bullets that pierce
The canons are loaded and shot
More have died than have not
Bayonets slice through skin
Each casualty is necessary to win
Both sides have taken and given ground
They are fighting for the right to be crowned
I can't seem to choose the right side
One side hopes I live, the other hopes I die
I have fought for them both
And with them I have broken my oath
This war rages as far as the eye can see
This battle is at the very heart of me
